Creating Variations (Size/Colour/Style)

Creating Variations (Size/Colour/Style)

Adding variations properly ensures

  • A better shopping experience for customers, who can select options from a single page
  • More accurate stock tracking across different product types
  • Higher conversion rates, as customers see the full range of choices in one place
  • Professional-looking product listings that inspire trust
Info
Variable products save time for both you and your customers. Instead of managing multiple listings, you can centralise everything under one.

Create a New Product

  1. Log in to your Vendor Dashboard.
  1. Go to Products > Add New Product.
  1. Select Variable Product from the product type dropdown.

Add Basic Details

  • Enter your product name (e.g., Classic Cotton T-Shirt).
  • Write a clear description explaining available variations.
  • Upload general product images that apply to all variations.

Define Attributes

  1. Scroll down to the Attributes section.
  1. Add attributes such as Size, Colour, or Style.
  1. Enter values (e.g., Small, Medium, Large; or Red, Blue, Black).
  1. Tick Used for Variations.
  1. Save attributes.
Idea
Keep attributes simple and consistent. For example, always use “Medium” rather than sometimes “M” and sometimes “Med”.

Create Variations

  1. Go to the Variations tab.

  2. Select Create variations from all attributes or add them manually.

  3. For each variation, set:

    • Price (standard and sale price if applicable)

    • Stock quantity

    • SKU (unique for each variation)

    • Variation image (e.g., upload a photo of the red version or large size)

Notes
Each variation should have its own SKU so you can track sales and stock accurately.

Save & Publish

  • Double-check all variation details.
  • Save changes and click Publish.
  • Preview your listing to ensure customers can select the correct options.
Alert
Missing prices or stock details may cause variations not to appear on your product page. Always confirm every variation has complete information.

FAQs

1. What is the difference between attributes and variations?

Attributes are the options you define (e.g., colour or size). Variations are the specific combinations created from those attributes (e.g., Red – Large).

2. Can I set different images for each variation?

Yes. Upload images for each variation to help customers visualise the exact product.

3. Do I need a unique SKU for every variation?

Yes. This ensures accurate stock management and reporting.

4. What if I only want to sell certain combinations (e.g., only Large in Black)?

You can delete or disable any variation you don’t wish to sell.

5. Can I convert a simple product into a variable one later?

Yes. Edit the product type in your dashboard, add attributes, and create variations as needed.
